Uco Valley is composed of the districts of Tunuyán, Tupungato and San Carlos, where you can find some of the best characteristics to cultivate certain grape varieties, mainly those that can adapt to the altitude.
The temperature range is very pronounced, with cold nights and sunny, warm days, shallow and rocky soil, coupled with challenging weather conditions for the development of the grapevines, channeled through modern enterprises dedicated to relaxation, the appreciation of their wines and fancy cuisine.
The “Terroir” in this region is very special and now shows it’s quality through the wines that have traveled the world obtaining fantastic results that are at par with the best exponents of top wine producing countries.
Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, PinotNoir, Chardonnay y SauvignonBlanc are some of the grapes that achieve optimal qualities in Uco Valley.
Named the “Napa Valley” of Argentina, Uco Valley has its own personality to show to demanding visitors who wish to try wines with style.
Early in the morning, at an agreed upon time, the wine specialist guide will meet with our guests to start the tour that will take you to Uco Valley, approximately one hour south of Mendoza City.
This valley is recognized for being the location chosen by important Argentinean and foreign winery owners. This is where they erect admirable wineries that produce high-end wines; all surrounded by the imposing view of the Andes Mountain Range.
The Uco Valley has an inland desert climate with distinct seasons. In summer there is a wide range of temperatures, with warm sunny days and cool nights.
The climate, the properties of terroir and the professional work of its great winemakers make it possible to ripen grapes that will long after become wine characterized by its style, elegance and character.
We will visit the first two wineries that have been carefully selected by our team of sommeliers and we will tour the vineyards, winemaking rooms, cellars where the wine is aged in oak barrels and later on, when the wine is bottled and corked, they are stored in these same cellars that have the perfect conditions (darkness, humidity and constant temperature) so the wine can acquire the final qualities, heightening the aromas and flavors that wine lovers can appreciate.
Our wine specialist guide will share his knowledge about the world of wine, providing us with detailed information about the properties of the terroir, the characteristic varietals in the region, the care given, grapevine conduction techniques, irrigation systems, defoliation of the grapevine, pruning and harvest, to achieve the highest quality grapes.
In the tasting rooms, the guide will give detailed indications and advice for a proper tasting.
At midday it will be time to tour the third winery and its vineyards. Upon finalization of the tour, we will have a gourmet lunch in the elegant restaurant of the winery, enjoying dishes prepared by the acclaimed chef and paired with different lines of wine in order to have an opportunity to practice the acquired knowledge about tasting.
In the afternoon, after resting and chatting for a bit about our personal experienceon the trip, we will return back to Mendoza while we see the sun setting behind the immense silhouette of the Andes Mountains.
Full day. Approximately 9-10 hours.
